Chainsmokers Remain At the Top of the Game

The Chainsmokers is an American DJ and production duo consisting of members Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. Alex Pall met Andrew Taggart through their manager, Adam Alpert, and formed as an Electronic Dance Music duo in 2012 in New York City. Alex grew up DJing, and attended the New York University for art history and music business. Andrew on the other hand attended Syracuse University, and at the time of meeting Pall, interned at Interscope Records. Andrew had expressed an interest in DJing, and posted some of his original work on SoundCloud.

The Chainsmokers achieved their breakthrough with their single “#Selfie,” which was released in 2014 and had made it to the top 20 in several countries. In October 2015, The Chainsmokers released their debut EP “Bouquet,” featuring the single “Roses,” which reached the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100. Their music has had many other successes including “Don’t Let Me Down,” which became their first top 5 single on Billboard Hot 100, and won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording at the 59th awards ceremony. Their song “Closer” was their first number one single on the charts. The Chainsmokers also won two American Music Awards and five iHeartRadio Music Awards.

In November 2016, The Chainsmokers released their second EP entitled “Collage.” Shortly after they released their debut studio album “Memories…Do Not Open,” in April 2017. Their album “Memories…Do Not Open,” is still very successful today as it is currently number one on the Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic charts. It has reached its 34th non-consecutive turn in the top spot, being tied with the Gorillaz’s “Demon Days.” The Chainsmokers seem to make their way back to the top of the charts no matter which other direction they take, and this could quite possibly be an ongoing pattern for the duo.
